Pets to Be Adoption Process

Our process has served us well and has enabled us to save and place over 400 animals since we started in 2002. We begin with a meet and greet session where our animals get to meet prospective families. We hold these meetings regularly at local pet related businesses. We accept applications for adoptions at these meetings. We want our prospective adoption families to go home and think about it while we review the applications. It is our purpose to eliminate any spontaneous decisions that may be regretted later. Our placements are intended to last for the life of the pet.

Our adoption application is available on this site under 'Forms/Applications'.  Just register and fill it out!

We are NOT able to perform out-of-state or long distance adoptions

Once an application has been approved by our placement committee, we arrange a home visit to insure compatablility. If all goes well we will place the animal with the new family and accept a tax-deductible donation that helps with our expenses. Our minimum donations range between $175.00 and $250.00. Most of our adoption families donate more that the minimums and for that we are grateful.

Why Adopt from a Rescue?

Our animals are healthy and happy. We have fostered them long enough to know their true personality and are in a position to give great advice about their potential in your individual circumstance. All of our pets have received complete vet care including spay/neuter, heartworm test and preventative, parasite testing and treatment, all vaccinations with records. As of May, 2006, all of our pets are micro-chipped and registered. These procedures can be very expensive and are already done. Our animals are also eligible for 30 days of complimentary health insurance. All things considered, a Pet to Be is a real bargain.

We held our first reunion picnic in October, 2004 and were thrilled to see everyone again. We have been blessed to meet the kindest and nicest people through our rescue efforts. Our picnics provide a great opportunity for our adoption families to meet each other and share their pets. We have dog games, contests, and great food and company. We held our second reunion this Spring (May 21, 2006) and will continue this tradition annually. Our Pets to Be family is growing every week which makes our picnic a 'not to be missed' event!

Here is the easiest way for anyone to assist our rescue efforts.
